NATIONAL CUISINE

Often, when we meet a new country, people and culture, we start from the question about their national cuisine and how it can pleasantly surprise us. Montenegro is just such a culture, hidden, like pearls, in the heart of Europe, ready to surprise you, to surrender to all your senses, to offer you on its national table the things you might see for the first time, as well as those have seen before, but now in a new arrangement. One thing could never be resent on Montenegrins - they are excellent hosts. Open door awaits you here, the best places to eat and the best services that Montenegrin host can offer. Montenegrin dishes differ in accordance with the natural environment they come from.

Although small in area, Montenegro has spawned dishes that Montenegrin cuisine is proud of. This means that you will be able to expect different gastronomic specialties on the coast, in the mountains or in the central part of the country. What is interesting about traditional Montenegrin dishes is that the process of preparation differs depending on whether you will try something in a restaurant or in a village, which is why guests are recommended to, if they have time, experience both methods of preparation. The origin of Montenegrin cuisine is uncertain as well as that we have mix of Italian, Greek and Turkish cuisine mixed with traditional Montenegrin- which makes it very unusual and exotic, and most important, delicious food.

The recommendation is to "follow" the natural order of things, that is, to enjoy, for example, lamb from the spit in the mountain environment, and on the sea shore in seafood freshly extracted from the blue depths of the Adriatic. However, some of the "general places" are always taken as a obligatory, at least when it comes to national cuisine in Montenegro, wherever they are, goat cheese with olives or prosciutto (usually Njeguška, directly from Cetinje) is almost always served as an appetizer, combined with some of the national drinks such as grape brandy or indigenous wines -Montenegrin vranac and Montenegrin white wine Krstač. The coastal cuisine is based on fish, the already mentioned olives, with olive oil, as well as the use of cereals and herbs. The fish is prepared in several ways, and the basic ones are: grilled (from the grill), boiled, broth and fried. Also, don't miss the opportunity to try the Montenegrin brand - Nikšić beer, which has nurtured the tradition since 1896!

Montenegrin cuisine in the best way collects the gifts of the Mediterranean and the treasures of the northern mountains with a strong cult of hospitality - the guest is offered the best food and drink, placed at the forefront of the table, and the hosts try to make the time spent in their home as pleasant as possible.
